What are the 5 best colognes for men that land you tons of compliments? Well, let me tell you.
It’s no secret that when you smell good, you become easily 10 times more attractive in the eyes of a woman. If she walks past you and you smell good, it’s like it doesn’t even matter how you look and she still comes up and talks to you. But as a warning:
If you’re scared of talking to girls, beware of using the fragrances in this post.
And if you like fragrances only for their uniqueness and price (I’m looking at you niche snobs) then this post is not for you. This post only covers the fragrances that please the most basic essential of us men: Compliments (preferably from a woman).
True Compliment Beast Fragrances
Every time I wear one of these fragrances, I get a compliment. Well, that’s a lie. But most of the time yes, at the very least I get some head turns. And I’ll take that as a compliment(ish).
And as a side note: You don’t need to be rich. Some of these fragrances are so cheap that you won’t even believe it. And no, there’s no Nautica Voyage on this list.
This list contains only ”battle-tested” fragrances, that have proved to:

1. Dior Sauvage EDP
Listen: I know what you’re thinking. This may be the most used fragrance in the world, and you may smell like an ”NPC” wearing this… But are you ready for the truth?
Almost nobody, like 90% of the population doesn’t even wear fragrances, and they smell like absolute dogs… And out of those 10% who wear fragrances, how many do you think wear Dior Sauvage EDP? It has to be like 2% or something.
So don’t worry about smelling like an NPC, and not having a unique scent. Remember what you’re here for? You’re here for compliments, not for uniqueness.
Dior Sauvage EDP is an absolute banger, I wear it almost every day, and I’m wearing it as we speak. The reason why I prefer EDP over EDT is because of its longevity, and the smell is a little better. EDT projects more but doesn’t last as long.

2. Allure Homme Sport Eau Extreme by Chanel
This has to be my favorite fragrance of all time.
It’s manly, fresh, and the tonka bean in this makes women go wild. Seriously, I can’t get enough of this scent. I bought a new 150ml bottle 2 months ago and I have like 70ml left. That’s how good this is.
Personally, I use this mostly for the gym and as a “hang-out-at-home” scent, but I will also be using this A LOT outdoors next summer.
But this fragrance has two down-sides:
- The projection could be a lot better. But you can easily fix it by spraying more. You don’t even need to worry about overspraying, because of how inoffensive this fragrance is.
- The price is a bit high. But if you can afford this, you should definitely buy this.

3. Versace Dylan Blue
Another ”NPC” fragrance, but it doesn’t matter. As I already established, we’re looking for compliments, and nothing else.
I had to put this on this list because this fragrance is perfection in a bottle.
Versace Dylan Blue is probably the best fragrance your money could buy. The smell, versatility, longevity, projection, and extremely low price make this an absolute gem. You can’t find a better fragrance for cooler (and even warmer) days, and one thing is also for sure:
You will get compliments wearing this fragrance.
And you will get the compliments on a very low budget. If you don’t have this in your collection, I recommend you buy the 200ml bottle, since it costs only around $80 and you’ll wear it for many years to come.

4. YSL Y EDP
Now you can’t talk about banger fragrances if you don’t include YSL Y EDP.
I need to confess: I used to dislike this fragrance. When I blind-bought
this and sprayed it on my arm, after 30 minutes I got nauseous from the smell.
I had to go and wash the scent out of my arm. I was unpleased with the
synthetic apple smell, and I thought to myself I’ll never wear this.
But after giving YSL Y EDP another shot, I started to like it. And
as I wore it more, I began to love it to the point I needed to include it in
this list.
I know that my opinion shouldn’t matter when talking about complimented fragrances, only the women’s opinion should. But this is just as a heads-up if you ever decide to buy it… It may smell synthetic and bad at the beginning, but you’ll start to love it. And women love it too.
My sister rated it the best fragrance of my whole collection.
If you’re looking for a ”club scent” or a ”party scent” for summer, this is definitely the fragrance you should reach for. Not to say you couldn’t use this as an everyday fragrance, you definitely can. The versatility this fragrance offers is amazing.

5. Acqua Di Gio Profondo
Even though I don’t like this fragrance, I had to include it in this list for one reason: You get a ton of compliments.
I don’t see the appeal to this, to me it just smells like pure rubbing alcohol, but apparently women like it (and they like it A LOT).
The few times I wore Acqua Di Gio Profondo I received a compliment, and once from a stranger which happens VERY RARELY. So there is something to this fragrance that people like. But despite the compliments, I decided to sell my Profondo bottle and I’ll probably never buy it again.
And I’m not saying you won’t like this, most people do. I’m just not a big fan.
I much prefer the discontinued ADG Profumo, but it doesn’t pull nearly as many compliments as Profondo even though they share the same DNA. Profondo is a fresher take on Profumo which is probably why.
But if you’re looking for compliments (as you should), you can’t go wrong with buying Profondo. It’s a timeless classic, perfect for hot summer days, and performance is above average as well.

One of my goals with this post was also to encourage you to use the “NPC” scents out there. These are the scents that land you compliments. Buying a unique and expensive niche fragrance for compliments is a big mistake.
If you put two equally good-looking dudes and a girl in a room, and one dude wears Dior Sauvage, other dude wears a niche fragrance. The girl will choose the guy wearing Dior Sauvage 90% of the time. And that’s a fact.
And here’s another fact:
There's no NPC scents in the real world...
…but only in social media.
Labeling a fragrance as “NPC” is stupid, just wear what you like that’s it. If your goal is to get compliments, wear any of the fragrances in this post. If your goal is to smell unique, buy a niche. Simple as that.
Remember to present yourself with the scent you’re wearing. Be confident and try to look good. That will amplify the effect of your fragrance.
